Buddy Florian joined me for the ride from New Hazelton to Prince Rupert. We left at 8:00 a.m. with temperatures of 7 degrees C, prepared for a chilly ride. About an hour along the road, we hit the anticipated rain and it felt like the temperature dropped another couple of degrees. We stopped briefly for gas in Terrace and jumped back on the bikes. It was a good thing it was the shortest ride of the trip so far, because it was definitely the coldest.
Rain or shine, the road between Terrace and Prince Rupert is one of the most breathtaking roads you can travel. It runs in long, gorgeous curves through mountains, lakes and dense forest. Sadly, I don't have pictures today - didn't want to drag my wet gloves off my hands for a quick picture and jump back on the bike. The good news is that I will travel that road again on my way north in a couple of days, so I may have a second chance to share some photos. I doubt any photo can truly do it justice. We arrived at Florian and Leslie's at 11:30 a.m. and I scooted off to meet with some clients for the afternoon. I was happy to return to Leslie's for a very welcome hot shower and grateful that they will keep me for a couple of days of good rest. Normally, when visiting Prince Rupert, I am only here for work, so I'm looking forward to exploring the history and attractions of Canada's rainiest city! Stay tuned for updates. :)
