Two years ago, we were being tourists in our own area and met Frank and Maureen and their son and fiancé on a boat tour. They were from Ireland and were loving their time in British Columbia. We heard the accents and struck up a conversation. They expressed the wish to come back and spend a month here visiting their son (who now lives in BC) and exploring more of the area. We said how we would love to go spend more time in Ireland. Upon disembarking, I said to Peter "We should be doing a house swap with those people". He agreed that would be cool, so when I saw their son on the trail I suggested it. His response - "My mom was just after saying the same thing!" So the suggestion turned into an exchange of contact information and a wee visit at our house.
Two years later, we are stoked to be heading to Ireland for a month very soon! I have rented a bike for 18 days, we have watched damn near every travel show about Ireland we can find, read magazines and explored areas on google maps. We have a long list of things to do and see and I have connected with a couple of riding groups there, hoping to connect with some fellow riders while exploring. As you can see, I have had a special logo done for the trip and have equipped myself with some stickers and t-shirts for anyone who may wish to be a local tour guide for us while there. Please join me on this adventure of Explore My Nation - The Irish Diaries!
