October, 2016 - Mount Washington
The trip to Mount Washington was my first significant road trip after getting my license. The trip took me from Victoria to Port Renfrew, then through Lake Cowichan back to TC1. I travelled to Parksville. Stayed at the Sea Edge Motel and would recommend it - nice little rooms with kitchenette and lovely views.
Left the big highway for 19A and travelled from Parksville to Courtney and stopped for lunch (can't remember where),
before continuing on to Mount Washington via 19A/19. On the way, I couldn't resist a side jaunt down Forbidden Plateau Road to Nymph Falls (who could resist such names!). The trail to Nymph Falls is about a 1 km hike off the road. Lacking appropriate foot gear, I could not do the hike, so continued on to Mount Washington. I would definitely go back to travel the Forbidden Plateau Road to its end. Clearly my weekends need to be at least 4 days long!!
