DAY 2 - THE GOLD RUSH TRAIL

5/30/2018

Day 2 has been amazing
and it's nearly time for bed
But I must write down this poem
that unspooled in my head.

The blog today is different
from the boring blogger prose
I offer up to you in rhyme,
the story of the road.

A later start this morning
due to having fun with kids,
who sat upon my motorbike
for obligatory pics.

Ellie cried when taken off
and had to be distracted
I fear a baby rider is born
and I'm sure I've been blacklisted.

Enjoyed the drive up Highway 5
to the town of Little Fort
The vibrant green of farms and mountains
would soothe the saddest heart.

Highway 24 revealed
a different kind of landscape
Deep set valleys and pretty lakes
that left my jaw agape.

108 Mile House Historic site
made a perfect stopping spot.
A museum, gift shop and tour
with a mysterious murder plot!

A deer and one wee squirrel count
the wildlife seen so far
Unless you count some characters
In the local small-town bars.

The Gold Rush Trail delivered me
safely to Prince George.,
Where Mikaela said she'll keep me
if I promise not to snore.

So off to bed and into sleep
I'm going to need my rest
For all the new adventures
that will find me on this quest!

I have been somewhat disappointed in the lack of wildlife so far. Maybe I should be careful what I wish for.

I always enjoy driving through the Cariboo, such wonderful sights! Glad you still have enough energy to write poems :p
