So, last weekend was the Vancouver Motorcycle Show. I have only gone once before and I didn't have my license or my bike yet, so it was a different experience to go with 3.5 years of riding experience and my beloved Fury well entrenched in my life.
On Friday, Bronwyn and I went for the She Rides event, where they raffle a bike to women entrants. My friend, Blair, met us there in the afternoon and we had a good time strolling around all the booths and seeing the new models coming out. My resolve to "downsize" would be seriously challenged if I had a bazillion dollars, because there would be a big garage and about 6 different bikes in it! On Saturday, I put on my favourite motorcycle t-shirt and went again. I expected to see some folks from Victoria, and was certain to see my friend Rodger, from Kelowna. Aside form Bill Wellbourn of Island BMW, I didn't run into any Victoria people I knew. So Rodger and I had a trip around the show too and a great time catching up with all of our news. Despite spending more time than was safe looking at all the bikes I could have, I saw nothing that truly tempted me to relinquish Fury. Many bikes I would have in addition to Fury, but nothing to replace her just yet. What I did notice, is that there are a lot more brands coming out with "lowered" suspension and/or seat heights. I'm liking that a lot, as it opens the field with more options for riders that like to have their feet planted firmly. I did manage to part with some money to purchase an Admore rear light to enhance brake and signal visibility on my bike. Rodger has one and said it was awesome and easy to install. He figures I can do it myself and he might be right. On the other hand, it might also be worth pretending I can't do it so I can take Fury for a run up to Kelowna for help! Hope you enjoy the pics from the show. I don't know how I managed to miss taking a picture of the Yamaha V-Max - one of my favourite bikes ever (though the Moto Guzzi El Dorado was running a close second). While I recognize it is the kind of bike you can get carried away on, it's just so damn beautiful! So I scooped a pic from the Yamaha website, because it deserves to be here!
